Accessibility at LumenLingo

A world that meets you where you are.

Every language opens a world. Language learning should flex around how you see, hear, move, focus, and communicate, so we are designing more than one thoughtful way in—and being clear about the work still ahead.

Accessibility, in practice

Different ways in. The same sense of wonder.

Our goal is not a separate experience. It is one thoughtful experience that can adapt to the person using it.

  • Perceive

    Clear by design

Semantic structure, considered contrast, and meaningful descriptions help content make sense in more than one form.

  • Navigate

    Move your way

Keyboard paths, visible focus, platform controls, and screen-reader testing shape how people move through LumenLingo.

  • Focus

    Set your pace

Reduced-motion support, browser zoom, and calmer interaction patterns make room for different ways of concentrating.

  • Be heard

    Keep us honest

Known limitations stay visible, and every reported barrier gives us a concrete place to make the experience better.

Where we are today

Progress without pretending.

Our website and iPhone app use WCAG and EN 301 549 as engineering benchmarks, but neither currently claims full conformance. We document what works, what does not yet work, and the improvements we are prioritising.

Website

Self-assessed · work in progress
lumenlingo.com does not currently claim full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Our internal review shows that work and manual testing remain, particularly across combinations that automated tools cannot evaluate. This is a self-assessment, not an independent certification.

iPhone app

Self-assessed · work in progress
LumenLingo iOS app does not currently claim full conformance with relevant EN 301 549 requirements for non-web software. The app uses platform accessibility APIs for key interactions, while the known VoiceOver, text-scaling, motion, and touch-target gaps below remain in progress.

Accessibility is a conversation

If something gets in the way, tell us.

Describe the barrier, the device or assistive technology you use, and what you were trying to do. We will listen, investigate, and respond.
